A favorite coat made of German tweed

Claudia is delighted to have once again had the opportunity to sew with a very high-quality fabric from our company: German Tweed . This exquisite wool fabric stands for the highest quality, regional production, and genuine sustainability – from the sheep to the finished fabric.

As the name German Tweed suggests, this fabric is 100% made in Germany. All the companies involved in its production are located within a radius of only about 90 kilometers around Zuleeg's headquarters. Short distances, regional cooperation, and skilled craftsmanship make this tweed a true prime example of sustainable textile production.

German Tweed as a short coat

Don't be afraid of plaid fabric!

Claudia adapted Vogue pattern no. 9367 to a length between the short and medium versions. Although the original pattern doesn't include a lining, her Bernina blog post provides detailed instructions on how to easily adjust the pattern to create a lined version. The result is a high-quality garment with a clear pattern layout and professional-looking workmanship on a plaid fabric – ideal for anyone wanting to achieve an elegant result with Vogue pattern 9367.

A look behind the scenes of sewing.

Because Claudia learned from another hobby seamstress that she doesn't even start many sewing projects because she fears the result will never look as perfect as in the blog posts, Claudia today offers an honest look behind the scenes and shows that when sewing – no matter how experienced you are – things don't always go smoothly.

Sewing her coat was a journey for this sewing enthusiast, involving both minor setbacks and major successes. She hopes this experience will encourage others to tackle more ambitious projects like sewing a coat. Small mistakes and unexpected challenges are simply part of the process – they make every sewing project unique.

Ultimately, what matters is the wonderful feeling of proudly wearing a garment you've sewn yourself. For Claudia, that's the most beautiful moment: when fabric, patience, and passion combine to create a truly unique piece that shows perfection doesn't have to be the goal – but rather the joy of sewing itself.
