Today we are pleased to present another article in the “Tweed Love” series – a wonderful collaboration between BERNINA and us as a fabric manufacturer of exquisite and high-quality fabrics 'Made in Germany'.

When Sara received the Zuleeg fabric package, it was immediately clear: this German tweed, a stylish reinterpretation of the classic, is something very special! Originally, she had a different pattern in mind, but this Maxi Herringbone Silver Cloud and the high-quality woven label inspired her so much that she quickly changed her plans to sew a blouson from tweed fabric.
The blouson is worn open and features facings at the neckline edges – perfect for showcasing the tweed fabric. And the best part: Sara used a free pattern and provides detailed sewing instructions on the Bernina blog.
This elegant maxi herringbone pattern can also be found in our online shop in other fashionable colors .

Sustainable, regional, unique – the value chain of German Tweed
The German Tweed collection from the Zuleeg weaving mill is a prime example of what sustainable textile production in Germany can look like. The wool comes from sheep in Germany and is processed into fine raw and dyed yarn at the traditional Zwickau worsted spinning mill. Then, at Zuleeg, we weave the high-quality tweed fabric – with extensive experience, passion, and an eye for detail.
The final finishing of the fabric takes place just a few kilometers from our company headquarters, at Knopf's Sohn . This keeps transport routes short and conserves resources such as energy and water. This collaboration with regional partners makes German Tweed a true showcase for sustainable fabric production in Germany – and a material that meets the highest standards.

Anyone who, like Sara, is looking for high-quality fabrics for sewing will definitely find what they're looking for with our German Tweed. This innovative tweed fabric combines tradition, quality, and responsibility – and with its characteristic feel and elegant look, it makes every sewing project shine and truly special.
